Dave McDowell died June 6, 2007, (suddenly), at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento (U.S.A.), late of 73 Ballyeaston Road, Ballyclare, dearly-loved son of Sadie and the late David and beloved brother of Martha, Mary, Laurence and the late William.

Dave(y) McDowell knew no stranger. He had a unique ability to make friends wherever he went and charmed all of us with his wit and Irish personality. He was generous to those he loved and befriended. He was always there when you needed him. A truer and more faithful friend you could not find.

We will miss his smile and the chuckle he often made when gently poking fun at you when taking things too seriously. His deep insights into life made him a friend to cherish when you needed to come back to reality. Dave knew what was important - live for today and be happy, cherish the friends and family around you for they are what's important in this life, not material things.

He gave of himself in life, as he now does in death. May he find eternal peace and may his spirit continue to set an example for us all to live by.

A memorial service for Dave's family and friends in Northern Ireland was held June 14th in
his home town of Ballyclare.
Dave donated his body to medical science and did not want any funeral services. We thought it fitting to celebrate his life at the Clubhouse at the Village Green where he lived for 25 years and where he had good times together with his friends and adopted family in Sacramento.
The gathering will be very informal and you are invited to share your memories with a funny story or other anecdote about Dave.

Time: 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007
Place: Village Green Clubhouse, 2703 Corabel Lane, Sacramento.
